UPCOMING EVENTS

Band Instrument Petting Zoo - 9/5, 3:30-4:30

Is your child interested in joining the Polaris Beginning Band but not sure what instrument to try? Join Mrs. Kielmeyer and her instrument ambassadors in the auditorium Thursday, September 5th from 3:30-4:30 to learn about the instruments of the Polaris band. Any 3rd-5th grade student can hold and play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, snare drum, or orchestra bells. Parents are encouraged to attend with their student. If a parent cannot come, students can bring a signed permission slip with them to the event. Permission slips are available in the music room and can be downloaded here.

PTO Meeting - 9/9 at 6:00 pm

Join us for the first PTO meeting of the school year. Meetings are held in the library and free child care is provided in the gym. This month, Principal O'Dell will give an update on the cooling measures that were installed in the school over the summer, as well as ongoing measures by DPS and the DCTA to address this issue district-wide. Please enter through the library door on the west patio near the kiss & go area.

Staff Appreciation Lunch - 9/11

5th Grade will be hosting a Mexican potluck lunch for all staff on Wednesday, September 11th.

Grade Level Parent Socials

You should by now have received an evite for your grade level parent socials. These adult-only social evenings let you connect with other parents in your child's grade, get to know the teachers and principal, and learn more about how you can support our fabulous school. If you didn't receive an invitation or have any questions, contact Community Chair-elect Carra Morris at carra.morris@gmail.com.

CSC Meeting - 9/16 at 3:45 pm

Join the Collaborative School Committee for the first meeting of the year. Meetings are held in the TLC (next to the gym), and all are welcome. Learn more about the CSC here

Jogathon - 10/4

More information will be coming home with your students in the next week, but put this event on your calendar now so you don’t miss this great day of fundraising fun. More info will also be posted on Polaris’ Jog-a-Thon web page  and online donations will also go live in the next week or so. Supporting this event through donations and by rooting your student on is the best way to support Polaris Elementary as we begin a terrific 2019-20 school year.
